April 2008

Brethren:

This month will be filled with much activity for St. Matthew’s Lodge. First and foremost, we’ll have our regular communication on Monday April 14, 2008, where we will raise four new Master Masons. I sincerely hope you will be able to join us. As is our custom when we raise candidates, we will have a dinner that evening. Reservations are required and may be made by contacting the Junior Warden.

Two nights later, on the 16th, we’ll be hosting our annual Table Lodge. As described above, this promises to be quite the affair. The next week has yet more activity, as we have our monthly breakfast on Sunday the 20th, and thanks to a highly successful open house in March, we’ll have a special communication the next night where we will confer the Entered Apprentice Degree on four new candidates.

As if this wasn’t enough, on Saturday May 10th, we’ll be hosting a special dinner event. We’ll have more detail about this at our next communication and in the next notice.

With warm fraternal greetings,

Tom

March 2008

Brethren:

Thank you to all the members who attended last month's communication. As you're aware, we're in the process of initiating four new brothers into the craft, and I was most pleased to see them readily embraced by everyone present. One of the most important things that we as Masons can do is extend our friendship and brotherly love to each other.

In that vein, I'm pleased to announce that Table Lodge will be held on Wednesday April 16, 2008 at St. Matthew's Lodge. This is one of our proud traditions, and I most cordially invite all members of St. Matthew's Lodge and all Masons who receive this notice to attend. Tickets will be available beginning at our March communication and can be purchased from the Senior Warden and his erstwhile team. This promises to be one of our best Table Lodges yet, and I'm looking forward to it; I hope you are too.

One of our most treasured items, a portrait of Wor. Merrill Pettengill, has been mounted near the Secretary's desk. As we eagerly welcome our new brethren, may his regal presence as he greets you when you enter the Lodge room serve as a reminder of both our past and our future.

With warm fraternal greetings,

Tom

February 2008

Brethren:

I hope this message find you in good health, and certainly, with better accessibility to the Lodge. Our work originally scheduled for January, but cancelled due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled for February, so I hope you will be able to welcome four new brothers to St. Matthew’s Lodge.

As always, our breakfasts continue to go strong, and we look forward to seeing you at our next one on the Sunday following our meeting. In March, in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, we’ll be hosting an Irish Night, and we’ll have more details at our next meeting and the next notice.

Lastly, we’re nearing our goal for assisting the Center for Professional Childhood Development, so we’re hoping you’ll help us in our final drive to provide much needed support for kids who truly need it.

Be well, and I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting. With warm fraternal regards,

With warm fraternal greetings,

Tom

January 2008

Brethren:

Happy New Year! I sincerely hope the holidays have been filled with much joy and happiness for you and your loved ones. With the new year comes renewal and growth for our Lodge. Be sure to join us at our regular communication on January 14, 2007 as we welcome four men who will be taking their first steps in Masonry with us.

And more importantly, the following week we will be hosting a Fraternity Night. Share your love for Masonry and for St. Matthew’s Lodge with a friend. Let the Secretary or me know of any people you may have in mind, and we will properly contact them, invite them to the event, and ensure they are well accommodated.

May your upcoming year be filled with numerous blessings.

With warm fraternal greetings,

Tom

December 2007

Greetings Brethren:

Although the autumn chill may conspire with inclement weather to dampen our spirits, the crisp, fresh air and the warmth of our fellowship nourishes and sustains us through the New England winter. In that vein, I invite you to join us at our December communication, after which we will have a festive party in our banquet hall to celebrate the season. While we meet upstairs, your significant others can congregate and share in our annual cookie swap, one of our enduring traditions.

As always, the Sunday following our meeting, we will have our monthly breakfast, capably provided by our crack crew. Later that day, we'll also host our children's Christmas party, so be sure to let our Senior Deacon know if you plan to attend.

May the upcoming holiday season bless you and your family with good tidings and joy.

With warm fraternal greetings,

Tom

November 2007

Greetings Brethren:

Brethren, I heartily thank you for the confidence you’ve displayed in me for electing me Worshipful Master of St. Matthew’s Lodge, and hope to be of humble service to you over the next year. We have a tremendous opportunity here at St. Matthew’s Lodge to grow our membership. The message that Grand Lodge is sending is resonating throughout the Commonwealth. There is buzz and considerable interest in Masonry and it’s arrived here at St. Matthew’s Lodge, having had a successful Square and Compasses Day on October 13.

We’ve also completed a substantial renovation to the downstairs heating and air conditioning system, so we’ll be able to enjoy our fellowship downstairs after meetings and during functions in some measure of comfort.

As we move forward with our events in November, namely the Showtime and Lodge breakfast, why not ask a friend to join you or your family in attending? Our events afford a great opportunity for you to introduce someone to Masonry at the most basic level: by simply meeting the brethren.

On a final note, we have an opening in the line of officers for the Junior Steward position. If you are interested in serving St. Matthew’s Lodge, and aspire to one day be Master, please contact me so we can discuss the opportunity more fully.

With warm fraternal greetings,

Tom
